We offer an exceptional pair of TOS lamps, designed by German designer Florian Schulz in the late 1980s. These lamps come from the residence of the German Embassy in Tokyo, a place that probably saw some of the greatest dignitaries of the era.
A rare piece, the TOS lamp captivates as much by the excellence of its conception as by the finesse of its design. Made from noble materials, it combines robustness and sophistication. Its weighted cylindrical base houses both the switch and the light source, while the light is delicately reflected by an adjustable circular reflector. Thanks to this ingenious mechanism, the lighting is soft, diffused and indirect, creating a warm, elegant atmosphere. Entirely finished in nickel, the lamp plays subtly with light and reflections, giving the object an almost sculptural character. Whether switched on or off, it naturally catches the eye and becomes a real focal point in any interior.
While Florian Schulz drew his inspiration from George Nelson’s famous Half Nelson Lamp (created in the 1940s), the TOS is a modern reinterpretation, benefiting from four decades of innovations in design, manufacturing and materials. The result is an object of exceptional finish and incomparable craftsmanship.
A high-end piece of design, steeped in history(s), rarely available on the market, and even more so as a pair.
