Italian brass lamp by Romeo Rega Width: 49cm height: 47cm depth: 16cm Piece of the year 70
A lamp with an elegant, modernist look.
Light and airy with its wide lampshade, its construction is nonetheless made of massive, solid materials, in keeping with the reputation for quality construction of high-end Italian design pieces from the 1970s, and in particular lamps designed by Romeo Rega.
Solid brass and high-gloss black lacquer form an immediately eye-catching combination.
The original lampshade is in ivory fabric with an all-round brass frame.
The result is an intriguing piece unlike any other.
Its shallow depth makes it ideal for narrow spaces such as fireplace ledges, small console tables or as a bedside lamp.
These lamps were imported to Japan by Yamagiwa (a company specializing in high-end lighting in Japan), hence the importer’s label on the lamp base.
The fabric of the lampshade is clean and the brass frame shows no particular scratches or marks.
The lamp base has a few scratches visible in the photos, as well as slight traces of oxidation on the brass due to age.
Electrification has been checked.
